The Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi hosts F1's traditional season finale. The track transitions from daylight to darkness during the race, creating stunning visuals. Following a 2021 redesign that removed slow chicanes, the circuit now features faster, more flowing corners and better overtaking opportunities.
Yas Marina opened in 2009 and has hosted the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix ever since. The circuit is known for its striking Yas Hotel (now W Abu Dhabi) that straddles the track. The layout was extensively redesigned in 2021, making it faster and more raceable. As the season finale, it has been the stage for multiple championship conclusions.
Max Verstappen overtook Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the season after a controversial safety car restart, winning his first World Championship in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.
Sebastian Vettel won the race and the championship from third in the standings, becoming the youngest World Champion at age 23 as his rivals hit trouble.
Lewis Hamilton deliberately slowed in the closing laps to back Nico Rosberg into traffic, but Rosberg held on to second place and clinched his only World Championship.
