Track Characteristics

Set in the Styrian mountains of Austria, the Red Bull Ring is a short, punchy circuit with dramatic elevation changes, fast corners, and heavy braking zones. With only 10 turns, there's nowhere to hide a car's weaknesses. The uphill run from Turn 1 to Turn 3 is one of F1's most spectacular sequences.

History

Originally known as the Österreichring, this circuit hosted Austrian Grands Prix in the 1970s and '80s before being shortened and renamed the A1-Ring in 1997. Red Bull purchased and renovated the circuit in 2011, and it returned to the F1 calendar in 2014. During the pandemic, it hosted back-to-back races as F1 restarted its 2020 season.
