Often called 'Monaco without the walls,' the Hungaroring is a tight, twisty circuit set in a natural amphitheater outside Budapest. Overtaking is notoriously difficult, making qualifying position and pit strategy crucial. The track's low-speed nature puts a premium on mechanical grip and downforce.
The Hungaroring made history in 1986 as the first circuit behind the Iron Curtain to host an F1 race. Located in Mogyoród near Budapest, it has been a permanent fixture ever since. Despite its reputation for processional races, it has produced many dramatic moments thanks to its strategic complexity and summer heat.
Esteban Ocon won his first Grand Prix after a first-lap pile-up eliminated several frontrunners, then held off Sebastian Vettel to the finish.
Oscar Piastri took his maiden F1 victory after McLaren controversially asked Lando Norris to hand back a position gained via pit strategy.
Jenson Button finally broke his duck after 113 races, winning in dominant fashion for Honda in changeable conditions.
