Track Characteristics

The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas features dramatic elevation changes, a stunning uphill run to Turn 1, and a mix of high-speed sweeps inspired by classic European circuits. Sector one echoes Silverstone's Maggotts-Becketts, while the technical back section demands precision.

History

Purpose-built for Formula 1, COTA opened in 2012 and brought the US Grand Prix back to the calendar after a five-year absence. Designed by Hermann Tilke, it's one of the few modern circuits universally praised by drivers for its challenging, varied layout. The venue has become a massive event combining racing with live music.
